On your bike

Getting around Krabi town is very straightforward, not just because the town is laid out in an easy to navigate format, but there are motorbike taxis to be found on every corner.

Visitors who have never sat on a motorbike before may find it a little daunting, but after one or two trips the fear quickly subsides. Taxi drivers generally drive carefully, and don’t put passengers at any risk.

Although the driver wears a helmet, there may not be one available for the passenger, unless departing from a taxi rank. Locals generally wear helmets to avoid fines as opposed to any concern for safety. Unfortunately, passengers are not required to wear a helmet by law.

Renting a motorbike and driving yourself is the best option and is easy after a little practice. Practice away from the main roads, always wear a helmet, drive slowly with extreme caution, and you are sure to find this your preferred mode of transport.
