Shopping malls in Krabi

Travellers who have visited Krabi in years gone by, will notice many changes on their return. The town is constantly becoming more modern, with new facets of culture and leisure such as an art gallery, marina, yoga studio and of course shopping malls.

In the last few years big names in the retail business have opened up shop in Krabi. Makro, Big C and Tesco Lotus, now all have units in Krabi. They are situated outside the town centre as their arrival caused much protest from independent shop owners in the area.

Makro is more of a wholesale outlet, although it has a good fruit and vegetable section in terms of variety and imported produce.

Big C houses a supermarket, DIY and home furnishings shop, fast food outlets, food court, fashion boutiques, electronics outlets and a kid’s gaming and soft play area.

Tesco Lotus offers a similar blend of retail and leisure, with a supermarket, clothes shops, electronics outlets, fast-food units and a cinema. Movies are nearly always in Thai, but occasionally there are English subtitles.
