Tefl teaching in Krabi

A large percentage of the expats in Krabi, arrived in town with a school bag and box of chalk. There is no shortage of TEFL teaching jobs in Thailand, and Krabi is no exception.

The close proximity to idyllic beaches and picture postcard scenery makes Krabi a popular teaching destination, despite being one of the most expensive places to live in Thailand.

There are different routes a prospective teacher can take, depending on individual preference and also job availability. The most popular place to teach is in local schools. You can approach the schools directly, or through an agency.

Agencies also sometimes send teachers to work in companies, hotels or on one-to-one teaching sessions.

The best paid teaching work is generally found in international schools; there is only one in Krabi. Krabi’s five star hotels also pay a much more favorable rate than the schools, but there are fewer jobs available.

If you are interested in teaching, it is usually possible to find a job on arrival in town. If you have time to familiarize yourself with the area and research your options, you are likely to find a better paid position.
