Cheap and cheerful eats in Krabi

Sometimes you may be unsure what is being concocted, but it is always worth a taste. Noodle soup, red pork on rice and rice noodles in fish and coconut curry are the most popular vendor dishes in Krabi.
Red (marinaded) pork on rice, khao moo daeng’, is widely available and native to the south of Thailand. Dishes like this are cheap and can be enjoyed streetside or wrapped to take-away. It’s delicious and served up very fast.
A variety of noodle soups are sold around Krabi, and most vendors offer a variety of different noodles – some are made from rice, others from egg and flour. There are usually slices of meat or little balls made from processed fish in a broth, as well as green vegetables and beansprouts.
Khanom cheen is another quick and cheap eat available throughout the day. This meal consists of rice noodles in a coconut fish curry, and is eaten with herbs and green vegetables which are served in a large platter. It also tastes good with fried chicken and boiled egg.
All of these dishes cost around 30 baht.
