Whale sharks in Railay
Posted by beach climber on April 25th, 2011 filed in Uncategorized, attractions, beach life, holidays, sightseeing, watersportsSnorkelling in the waters around Krabi is always a fantastic experience thanks to the rainbow of marine life that lies under the water, but recently snorkelers were treated to a surprise show laid on by a school of whale sharks.
This beautiful creature, which is the world’s largest fish, is often spotted off the coast of Phuket and the Similan Islands, but there are have been few sightings close to the mainland coast.
In the last few weeks, visitors on sailing cruises and snorkelling trips have been able to see the fish at close range and even swim with them, not far from Railay Beach. This is very unusual, and was a fantastic experience for those lucky enough to bump into the whale sharks off the coast of Railay.
