Making Railay better value-for-money
Posted by admin on June 7th, 2011 filed in beach life, holidays, hospitalityRailay Beach is truly one of Asia’s most glorious stretches of sand, but staying here is an expensive proposition for most people when put in comparison with other resorts of the majestic Amdaman Coast. The area’s exclusive nature – including the fact that it’s only accessibly by boat – means that even basic accommodation choices come at a premium here and value-for-money is actually pretty poor.
One option is to stay in the popular beach resort of Ao Nang just around the bay where there is a huge variety of hotels, guesthouses and high-end resorts which cater for all budgets. Competition here keeps prices low, and you are only a cheap ten-minute taxi-boat away from the pristine beach of West Railay.
The other option is to stay at the backpacker beach of Ton Sai between Railay West and Ao Nang, and here there are lots of budget options including basic A-frame huts and dorms. And if you don’t mind the constant smell of cannabis smoke drifting over the sand this is also a solid choice that does not cost the earth.
