Floods? What Floods?
Posted by beach climber on October 27th, 2011 filed in beach life, holidaysYes there is some major flooding throughout Bangkok and plenty of other locations in the north of Thailand. But here in Krabi, as well as the rest of the south, it is business as usual.
I know that some people may be putting off their travels to Thailand or even cancelling them all together, but this is really unnecessary. Bangkok is around 950kms (590 miles) north of this beautiful seaside resort area so there is no need to fret. This is quite a long distance so of course we have not been affected by the flooding. Yes the shelves at the local 7-11 are taking longer to fill, as are those at Tesco Lotus and Big C. Regardless, there is still plenty available and no one is starving.
Krabi has seen some sunny weather the past few days and it is still the perfect place to enjoy a hot, exotic beach holiday. It is very possible to get here by airplane, train and bus without even needing to set foot in Bangkok.
I realise that many Embassies are sending out warnings not to travel to Bangkok, mine included. But the rest of the country is not Bangkok and can still be visited. So those wishing to enjoy a holiday in Krabi should still do so.
